AirPods skipping during playback on MacOS

Starting a separate thread for this issue as the others have died or haven't been updated.

While using my AirPods with my 13" MacBook Pro (late 2016, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, 2.9GHz i5, running 10.12.6), any continuous audio stream will be sporadically interrupted by skipping, best captured by Jesse Dacri here.

The AirPods work perfectly connected to my iPad or iPhone, but they always skip when connected to my MacBook Pro 13" w/ Touchbar. I've narrowed the behavior down to only when the MacBook is connected to an external monitor via TB3, but I've tried two different TB3 monitors (LG 27UD88-W and the LG UltraFine 5k) and the behavior is the same.

I also found that the following log entry coincides with the skipping, down to the same second -

Sep 5, 2017, 12:44:53 PM com.apple.xpc.launchd[1]: Unknown key for integer: _DirtyJetsamMemoryLimit

Sep 5, 2017, 12:45:06 PM com.apple.xpc.launchd[1]: Unknown key for integer: _DirtyJetsamMemoryLimit

Sep 5, 2017, 12:45:41 PM com.apple.xpc.launchd[1]: Unknown key for integer: _DirtyJetsamMemoryLimit

From looking into these logs, I was able to see that this error usually doesn't mean much. However, I can confirm that this log is present every time the skipping occurs.

I've tried factory resetting the AirPods, resetting the Bluetooth module on my MacBook, deleting all other Bluetooth devices, removing any possible wireless interference, and even having the AirPods replaced at the Mac store.

Anybody have any ideas for further troubleshooting or possible fixes? Or am I just hosed until there's another software update?
