How to free up storage on iPad

My iPad has totally run out of memory.  Zero available. The alert says to go to Settings to manage storage.  When I do that it shows that Mail is is the primary memory hog, using over 5gigs of the 12gigs that is theoretically available.

Every article i have found recommends moving photos, videos and music to cloud storage.  However, I have No photos, No videos, and no music on it so that is of no help.

Other than laboriously going through the Edit-Select-Delete procedure for the massive number of emails sitting on the iPad, is there an easier way to clean it up?

Note that my email service provider only offers POP service.  This means when I delete a message on my iMac, it isn't deleted from other devices.  And vice versa.

How is your mail set up? Are you using the Mail App and do you have Mail turned on in iCloud? If so, have you tried turning off the Mail option and then turning it back on? Or, signing out of iCloud and back in?

Cheers,

If mail is your issue, then you are going to have to delete mail. Since you say you have a POP account, which downloads the message to the device, and generally deletes the mail from the server, you don't have a lot of options. You can either go through the mail and delete what you don't want and keep what you do, or you can delete the account, which will remove everything, and then add it back to the device, but you will not have any archive email. That is the best you can do with POP mail.

I use the Apple Mail client.  The email ISP is a local cable company.  I do not use iCloud mail although I do have an account.

Thank you.  This is interesting.  The email is through a local cable company.  It is  POP account.  As near as I can determine when a device accesses it, the message is not deleted from the cable company server.  The message shows up on my iMac, my MacBook, my iPhone and the iPad.  Any message I want to get rid of, I have to delete separately in each device.  So far, the iPad is the only one where this has created a problem.

I also have a gmail account but that is a different protocol such that when I delete on one device it is deleted from all.  This sets up its own problems because that means I can't leave the message on my primary device - the iMac - and delete it from all others.

UGH!
