iPad Mini 2 fully charged but shows no charge, ...

I've had my iPad Mini 2 since Christmas 2014.  Just this week it started behaving strangely.  I charge it overnight and every day this week when I take it off the charger it shows the battery is drained.  If I plug it in and click the sleep and home buttons randomly and wait a bit, eventually the Apple icon shows up and when it boots up, it shows 100% charged and lasts all day.  I've done the reset by holding both the sleep and home buttons until the Apple logo comes on, but it has made no difference.  This morning, probably the fourth day in a row of this, after it finally came on, it only last 5 minutes before turning off, showing the battery was drained.  I got the Apple logo to come on again after fiddling with it a bit, and it looked fully charged again, but had to go to work, so not sure what it would have done.  Any thoughts?  Is my battery shot?

Sounds like a faulty battery. Take it into an Apple Store and ask them to run additional diagnostics to be sure, but that's my best guess.
