my first generation iwatch face came off

I received the first generation 42mm Iwatch 12/2015. Today, while normal wear( no water, no banging) the face disconnected from the watch. This appears to be a manufacturing defect but I need to know if this is common.  This stainless steel case with Milanese strap watch was not cheap and I am very disappointed that Apple would make something that just goes "boing" during normal wear.  FYI this is not an everyday watch for me.

Luckily the face is not completely off - I can see the insides of the watch.  Has anyone or does anyone know if Apple will cover this?

Hi

Apple advises that you should not continue using a damaged Apple Watch, which is also not user-serviceable.

Contact Apple Support (mail-in service may be available, if required), make a Genius Bar reservation or visit an Apple Authorised Service Provider to arrange for your Apple Watch to be inspected and to establish your available service options:

(I'm afraid that no-one here can tell you what Apple will decide in your specific case).
