Macbook Pro 15.4 i7 16gb or Macbook Pro 13.3 i5...

Hi,

I would like to get a new Macbook Pro. I had a MB Pro 13.3 i5 (late 2011) that I upgraded to 16gb and 1tb. I checked out a 2016 MB Pro i5 13.3 with 8gb and 256gb, however, I don't think 8gb will be "future proof". The other choices are a MB Pro 15.4 i7 (2015) with 16gb and 256gb or a current MB Pro i5 13.3 (2017) with 16gb and 256gb.

Apple is slightly cost prohibitive so I am trying to stay within reason. The MB Pro 15.4 has standard ports with a PCI-E SSD that seems to be more upgradeable. The 15.4 has the Haswell chipset while the new version has the Kaby Lake chipset.

While both are good choices, the current version may have better heat dissipation?  Your thoughts and recommendations are appreciated.

I believe it is just the opposite. The newer MBPs seem to be running hotter than the 2015 model you reference, which I highly recommend.
