star ratings in smart lists

Since the latest update, when I view / Edit Rules in a smart playlist which uses song ratings, the variables show 5+ grey stars (not blue, as I recall from the past), like this:

I can edit the ''Rating --> is in the range'' variables, but when I do so I get an empty playlist, regardless of what values I enter:

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

FWIW: If I create a new smart playlist which uses song ratings, it does work, at first. But it does apparently different (but still erroneous) things, like in this case where I get 3-star songs in a list calling for only 4-star and higher songs:

Yes, I am using ½-star ratings, but the same things happen when I turn off this feature.

That has been reported a couple of times on this Forum, and appears to be a bug in the new release.
