I have a 2011 13" Macbook Pro (8 gigs of RAM, OS 10.10.5) that the audio starts distorting after using it for awhile. Sometimes after about 5 minutes use, but most of the time it takes a little longer, even up to half a day's use. It usually happens when using Logic but sometimes just playing a Youtube video will cause it to happen. A restart fixes the problem temporarily. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Good morning scottmoon,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

I understand you are having some issues with audio on your MacBook Pro in at least two applications.  The first thing we need to determine is if this issue is with the internal speakers.  When you hear audio distortion from the speakers, plug a pair of headphones into the speaker jack.  Is the audio still distorted?  The resources below will provide some basic troubleshooting for your MacBook.

Get help if the internal speakers on your Mac don‘t make sound

You may need to take it to an Apple Retail Store or an Apple Authorized Service provider to have it inspected.  Confirm your country and select "Service" in the link below:

Take care.

Thanks Sarah. I use firewire for audio output to my mixer but the distortion can be heard coming from both my external mixer and the computer's internal speakers.

I guess no one has see this or not experiencing this problem. I'm still at a loss.
