My Mac Pro restarts on its own. Why?

This problem is new.

I like to keep my computer on in case I need to contact it remotely. But when I do, it doesn't respond. When I get home it has rebooted and is waiting for a password. This happens even when i am home but not using the computer for an hour or so.

When I provide the password and the screen is adding the icons and folders that were up before the shutdown, the arrangement of the contents is shifted all around the screen. I put every thing back where it belongs, but it is scrambled again when it comes up after each reboot.

What's happening here?

We experience a similar issue here and having trawled the forums again recently I suspect it's the graphics card issues i keep reading about.  Of course the Apple diagnostics don't pull out any problems...shameful for the money these machines cost.
