VIP Mailboxes Problems Sierra

The VIP mailboxes were acting up and not up to date.

Now they are grayed out and cannot access and they have disappeared from mailboxes sidebar.

Any ideas?

Remove someone’s VIP status and mailbox: In a message from the VIP, click the star next to the person’s name. The person’s VIP mailbox is removed from the Favorites bar (the person’s messages remain in the Inbox).

Make someone a VIP: In a message, move the pointer next to the person’s name in the message header, then click the star  that appears.

You can also click the arrow in a Smart Address, then choose Add to VIPs.

If the person has more than one email address in the Contacts app, messages from all of the addresses are included in the VIP’s mailbox.

 

Sierra user here..

Just like most techies, I tend to Google it first, try the suggested method.. often times it doesn't work.. and we Google some more.. And then we remember, what if I just Quit the program and re-open it again? Viola! The VIP folder re-appear! Hahaha!

Try re-indexing the mailboxes. This can take awhile if you have a lot of mail.

Reindex messages           For El Capitan, try looking in V3. Sierra use V4
