Email contacts address book deleted

I've lost all my the information in my Contacts book. The book is blank. I've tried reloading it from my time machine backup but that doesn't work Help.

If you use iCloud Contacts, your Previous Recipients list is available on your other Mac computers (with OS X v10.8 or later) and iOS devices (with iOS 6 or later) that have iCloud Contacts turned on.

Empty contacts on my Macbook Pro!

You can try signing into your iCloud account on the system preferences and making sure that contacts is turned on. If that doesn't work you can check other accounts on the computer just to check if they are stored somewhere else. At the very least you may be able to restore from an iTunes backup but you will need a phone to do so.

If you are syncing with iCloud, copy the following Path and paste it into Go To Folder in the Finder (Go menu).

 

~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook

 

Click Go

 

When the AddressBook folder opens, find these three files and delete them.

  • addressbook-v22.abcddb
  • addressbook-v22.abcddb-shm
  • addressbook-v22.abcddb-wal

 

Open Contacts and see if your contacts are re-populated.

I wasn't using icloud.  I went to icloud and got an older version of my contacts back.

There isn't a box to use that says it didn't help or solve my problem. I've worked around it so thanks anyway.
