Mail shuts down in order to "repair information"

I am having problems with Mail giving me the message that it has to repair the information about my mailboxes and shuts down. Like every few minutes.

I am running Sierra and have use Mail successfully for a long time. Last week my email was overfilled and I had to delete. I made a mistake and deleted everything so my e-mail provider had to install my back-up. This is when the problem started. They advised me to delete the account from Mail and re-install, which I did. It didn't help. I have the same problem on 2 different computers.

Now I have to use webmail to not go insane, but it is not very efficient, so PLEASE HELP!
