Airdrop not working on my mac with any iOS or M...
Airdrop has stopped working on my Mac for quite a while now. I can't send or receive data to and from any iOS device or Mac computer. I have used airdrop on my iOS devices which i have tried to use with my mac and it works. But it doesn't work with my Mac. So the problem is definitely with OSX and/or Mac.
Although I can use handoff with my iphone and other things too like accepting calls from my mac when my phone is nearby but airdrop never works.
This problem has persisted for a quite a long while. I have checked other discussions in here and other places but none ever solved the problem. But please still do tell me any thing, maybe one of the ways will prove useful.
My system spec's overview:
Model Name: MacBook Air
Model Identifier: MacBookAir6,1
Processor Name: Intel Core i5
Processor Speed: 1.4 GHz
Number of Processors: 1
Total Number of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB
L3 Cache: 3 MB
Memory: 4 GB
Boot ROM Version: MBA61.0099.B22
SMC Version (system): 2.12f143
Hardware UUID: CC539276-78FF-506E-A9EA-AFB86C438D16
P.S My iOS devices' software and Macbook's software is uptodate btw.
Any help will be appreciated.

Please launch the Console application in any one of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take an action that isn't working the way you expect. Select any lines that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
Some private information, such as your name or email address, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
When you post the log extract, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "The message contains invalid characters." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the text on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
If you have an account on Pastebin, please don't select Private from the Paste Exposure menu on the page, because then no one but you will be able to see it.
Here is the messages in console when i try to send a photo from my iPhone to mac. Here's the paste bin link:
Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this test is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The "Guest User" login created by "Find My Mac" is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
I tried doing it with a test account with administrative privileges and it works in that test account. But it doesn't on my normal account.
Are you using any third-party software that modifies the behavior of the trackpad or Magic Mouse, such as "BetterTouchTool" or "MagicPrefs?" If so, please disable it, then log out or restart the computer and test.
No, I am not using any trackpad software.
EDIT:
Should i send the list of applications installed on my mac? Both from appstore and other sources?
Please back up all data, then open the Library folder in your home folder by holding down the option key and selecting
Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar.
Inside the Library folder is a subfolder named "Keychains." Move that folder to the Desktop. Log out or restart the computer.
Test. You may be prompted for some passwords that you don't normally have to enter.
After testing, put the folder that you moved back where it was, overwriting the one that will have been created in its place. Log out or restart again and post your results.
Well, I'll need to get a hard drive for that. I don't have anything with myself to back up my data in. I have a 1 TB hard drive but it's full, so can't really erase it and use it as time machine. Will I run into any trouble if I move the keychain folder to desktop with backing up before?
If you don't have a back up, your first priority is to back up. It's not safe to do anything without backups.
So I moved the keychains folder in the library directory and restarted my computer. I tested it and it doesn't work still. I also checked if it would work in the test accounted I created and it won't work on that either. Any more steps I may need to follow?
I had once used Little Snitch in the past but I never tinkered with airdrop or any system network setting there in.
So I did lots of other things. Probably everything single thing other websites or people on other discussion boards suggested but non of them were useful. I also signed in and out of my iCloud account from mac but that didn't work either. So I this time I signed out and logged in with another iCloud account. I didn't test it right away but at night I just tried again to see if it works or not, and It did!!! I logged out of the account and signed in with my old iCloud account (with which airdrop wasn't working) and It worked then too!
This Bug has got to be fixed by apple!!!
I had issues with my iPhone sending files via airdrop to my MacBook pro but my iphone would NOT receive files. I checked all the settings and everything suggested.... what worked me was my MBpro was connected wifi and hardwire at the same time. I just disconnected my ethernet connection (connected via Thunderbolt ethernet adapter) and it worked. My iPhone can now accept files from my MBpro.
hope this helps.
I don't believe I have ever been able to get AirDrop to work on my Macbook Air Late 2013 10.8.5 1.7ghz intel core i7
I've tried many troubleshooting tips. One main problem I seem to have is that there is no place for me to select "contacts only" or "everyone". The Airdrop symbol seems to just keep spinning in my finder.
