My phone was logged into at 3:10 am and now my screen is locked saying to email unlock.device@gmx.com

 

obviously I know this isnt an apple thing and I'm not going to email them. HELP



Apple emails derive from Apple.com, not GMX.com, this is not from Apple.



Two of the phones on our iCloud account had the same problem this morning.



If you do email them, you get a response saying you need to pay $50 for "bitcoins" or all your devices will be locked within 24 hours.



Try restoring your device.

It happened with my Imac too apple could not help me

So I've been talking to Apple Customer Support for a day and a half now. The issue seems to be getting more and more prevalent over thelast couple of days. My iPad suddenly got locked this way as well, and it looks like it was mainly devices which did not have passcodes on hem which were affected (my iPad did not).

 

At the moment, restoring the device seems like the only way to fix his, but that means you'll lose all your data. The conversation was left where the Senior Adviser told me to wait a few days because obviously this is an issue affecting a lot of people and the engineers at Apple might work out a way to fix this without having to delete all your data. So that's what I'm doing.



Ok,  We started the recovery process yesterday.  We are expecting it to take 3 days.

How did you start a restore when there's a firmware password?  (I'm on a MacBook Pro)



You need to take it to an Apple Store along with your receipt.



We called Apple and they took us through the steps on icloud.com
