4TB EXT Drive Not Showing

Hey Everyone,

Any help with this would be much appreciated.

I have a Macbook Pro 2016 13inch (Non Touch Bar Model).

Overnight I was copying from one external drive to another. (NTFS Formatted 1 x 4TB Maxtor, 1x 4TB Seagate). The Mac shutdown at some point mid-transfer and when I came to it this morning it was off.

The drives I use for a lot of stored Media and playing off a Rasberry Pi hence NTFS.

So now my problem neither two of the drives will show or Initialise. In disk utility I do see the container but the partition is greyed out and will not let me run first aid. I plugged both the drives into a windows machine and they show fine, I fixed a few drive errors it found hoping it would then show on my macbook but nada. I also tried using Paragon NTFS to fix errors but it cant find any.

Any help of advice would be appreciated, or any apps that could potentially solve the problem reading the drives on my mac.

You could try transferring all of the media and documents onto your windows computer, and them when you are sure everything is transferred, plug it back into your Mac. In Disk Utility, click "Erase" in the middle of the toolbar, and re-partition the drive to FAT-32, exFAT, or your preferred filesystem.  Once the formatting is finished, you can transfer back all of the files you stored in your Windows computer back to your Mac. It appears the drive somehow got formatted to Windows NTFS, a file system designed for Windows only.

Hi,

Are you able to eject the disk by right clicking on the left pane? If so, try to reconnect the drive after.
