iPad charger overheating

Hi everyone! I need advice and help once again..

So recently (starting around a couple months ago) my iPad gets pretty warm, and even a little bit hot, when playing games such as Asphalt 8, Minecraft PE, CSR 2, Clash Royale, etc. Sometimes my iPad heats up after a little bit of YouTube watching.

Now, I noticed the charger was getting pretty hot as well whenever I used my iPad while charging it. The cable itself would never get hot, only these parts:

•The wider plug thing at the end of the cable (don't know what it's called, but on the cable there are 2 plugs, one goes into the iPad port and the other goes into the wall block port thing that is shaped like a rectangular prism... again, don't know what it's called...)

•The cube-shaped wall-block-port-thing that connects the cable with the outlet in the wall

I do not recall these problems occuring until maybe a couple of months ago. The iPad gets pretty warm by itself when playing games such as Asphalt 8 or Fallout 4. Getting warm when playing Asphalt 8 is a pretty new thing, I do not think that happened in the past.

One of my only (and very bad) theories about why this is happening and only seemed to start happening since a couple months ago is that I, being a clumsy person, accidentally dropped the iPad on the floor a couple of times while using it. A couple of my family members also accidentally stepped on my iPad when I left it on the floor in my room (not the smartest idea, I know, but it's me not thinking ahead very much...). My theory is that somehow with the stepping and dropping, something in the iPad got damaged somehow, as the heated/warm area seems to only be everywhere to the right of the Home button.

Another thing I noticed is that, very recently (happened a couple of days ago), after turning off the Wifi, closing all apps and charging the iPad for the whole night, I woke up and the thing had restarted itself. I could tell when I got to the passcode screen ('iPad requires password after restart' or something like that.)

Also while charging, the iPad seems to slow down a bit, and the screen seems to lag a bit more than usual.

Can someone help me figure out why these issues are happening and how to fix them? As a recap, the issues are:

•iPad and charger heating up while charging

•iPad heating up/getting warm after playing games/watching YouTube for extended periods of time

•Increased lag (especially in the coded-in, onscreen keyboard) while charging

Additional info:

Device: iPad Air 2 no cellular data, purchased around 3-4 years ago

OS: iOS 10.3.3, no jailbreak

Well, first the benchmark pretty much is 'too hot to handle'

Some heat is normal. You play games it stresses the processor which generates heat. Same with video. It will also heat up when charging. Warm is normal. too hot to handle...as in it hurts or will burn you, means something is wrong. If that's the case, stop using it, stop charging it and take it to an apple store or authorized service provider and get it checked out

As to the lag. I've experienced it a few times on my iPod, but never really on my ipad....then again I don' play a lot of graphics intensive games or watch videos.  Given that I've experienced it. I don't think it's unique to your device. Probably just the stress of charging coupled with using the iPad and it may have some issues with multitasking.

Yes, but the charger itself... when I picked it up it was hot enough that I instantly dropped it and it left my finger tingling for a few seconds after

Would that be too hot? I don't know exactly how hot it is though...

Also when I hold my iPad landscape-style so the home button is near my left hand, there are some small blue-ish dots of distortion near the bottom of the screen, near where the 'spacebar', 'b' and 'n' keys are when the keyboard is activated. Is that normal? How do I fix that?

Instead of being perfectly flat, my iPad is a bit bent... this is what happens when I leave my iPad (same color as the carpet on the floor) on the ground in my room and a family member steps on it by accident... not that I try to intentionally misuse the iPad, just absentmindedness...

You don't fix that distortion. as to it being bent, it could be part of your issues. However Apple does not fix devices like that. Unless you have apple care plus which has accidental damage coverage, the most you could get offered is an out of warranty replacement, for a bit of a discount compared iwth a new one.

as to the charging brick, if you're worried about it, when it comes to power it's better to be safe than sorry. Get another one or make an appointment to have it checked out and see what they say.
