i cant install itunes 64 bit

when i install itunes and when i open the program it says reinstall itunes and windows error 7 i did it 5 times and same problem

this is what i found on a page on the internet

https://www.jerrytravis.com/560/an-easy-fix-for-itunes-10-5-x64-that-wont-install -on-windows-7-64-bit

I just downloaded iTunes 10.5 and tried to install it on my Windows 7 64 bit machine. What I got was an error message that said:

There is a problem with this WIndows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

The fix that allowed 10.5 to install correctly was very simple. Simply go to Control Panel > Uninstall a Program. Right-click on “Apple Software Update” and choose “Repair.” After that, iTunes 10.5 (x64) should install with no problems at all. Apparently the Apple Updater can get messed up and cause the new version not to install. Imagine that.

If only all Windows errors were so easy to fix!

I had the same issue and found the answer to this on a Dell website.   The issue is with Apple Support Update.  This needs to be uninstalled prior to installing the iTunes.  If it will not uninstall on your computer, then download Revo uninstaller (trial version).  Using Revo Uninstaller, delete all the components to Apple software update.  Once this is deleted, then you can install ITunes.   Out of the 7000+ responses that I have found on the internet, none of them worked until I did this.   The issue is probably caused by a cleaner software removing registry files over time.   Most of us use a cleaning software in today's day and age.  This apparently happened to me as an old version of Apple Software Update would not uninstall due to missing files/registry.  Using the Revo Uninstaller (trial version), I was able to delete the remaining files and reinstall iTunes.  Try this and you should be successful.  It costs nothing for the trial version.
