"pagecontroller error

I'm trying to install a tablet driver off the web, and I can open the package, but when I click on it to start the install, I get the error noted above. This has been going on awhile, so I re-installed the OS in case I had acorrupted installer, but that didn't change anything. The install file is a .pkg file. Any ideas? The whole message is: "The operation couldn't be completed. (com.apple.installer.pagecontroller error-1.)
