My Ipod classic works great in my BMW but my ip...

My BMW came equipped with  a 30 pin adapter which works fine with my Ipod Classic, my ipod Touch will play, but it does not charge. Same cable, but will not charge in car. Additionally my ipod shuffle and ipod touch won't get recognized at my home desktop, it is seen at my work desktop and my laptop. All are updated ios, my Ipad works everywhere. What gives people?
