why does my MacBook Pro keynote not allow me to...

I have a macbook pro OS X YOSEMITE VN 10.10.5

Processor 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Memory 8GB 1067 MHz DDR3

Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB

I am using Keynote 'o9

I have used it okay for years but suddenly I am creating documents in keynote and they are saving okay.  BUT when I go back to open them or rework them I get the message Unable to open ... because it isn't a valid Keynote document.

I have tried to reset it using Zip and other end tags but this hasn't worked.

Please help as I have an important presentation coming up and I can't access my files!
