Any way to reduce the glow?

Okay, so I've downloaded several iPad alarm clock apps. And they all have the same problem - no matter how much I dim the screen (using the app's dim screen function) the background never turns totally black. This is true even when I reduce the iPad's screen brightness using the "Settings" function. As a result, there's always a glow which tends to keep me up. Is there an alarm app (I've tried 5) or way to make the screen background totally black without a glow?

I don't know of one. Lay a magazine on it.

Brilliant. But, that doesn't work when docked.

Did you try NIGHT STAND. Double tap the screen twice and the light dims. If not restore your iPad. My works.

Alphaclock ii has screen dimming. Just tap the screen to dim the screen to your liking.

Thanks. I did try that. It does dim, but the background isn't pure black...still a glow. I guess I'm just too sensitive to the light.

Hey I am wondering if you ever found a solution to the screen glowing. It's funny we are on iOS 10  seven years later and still dealing with the same issue. I've tried several different alarm clock apps and none of them have a true black background. Even dimmed all the way down there is still that glow you were talking about. Did you ever find one with a true black background?

You cannot dim the screen to where it is not visible.

this would make no sense, since there are no hardware buttons for brightness- it's a touchscreen device.
