How do i do a sweep in my inbox of all emails f...

In my hotmail account, I can do various sweeps in my in-box, making it quick and easy to delete emails in mass.  I can not figure out how to do that in Mail on my MacBook.  Can anyone tell me how or where to look for an answer?

Open mail, then select the inBox. First select one of the emails from that sender. Then click From on the bar above the emails. All the emails from that sender are now arranged together.

Click on the top one in the list, then scroll down to the last one. Hold the shift key down and click on the last one. The whole lot from that person should be selected. Hit the delete button on the keyboard.

Thank you.  That got me close enough to figure it out the rest of the way.  Actually what I did was sort by date sent and then bundle and delete.  Not as easy as a sweep, but it was easier than one at a time.

The other way is to use the Smart Mailbox feature. Create a new Smart Mailbox with the criterion being the sender. The Smart Mailbox will fill with only the messages that match the criterion. It's like a saved search, and one advantage is that you can make it collect that sender from multiple or all mailboxes, not just one.

Thank you.  That is helpful as well.  It is sort of a long explanation of how I ended up with this issue, but briefly, I got a new Macbook that I don't want to synch up to the family desktop Mac, so I had thousands of emails in my inbox that I wanted to discard.  I appreciate all of the help and should be able to do it much more quickly!

Hope you can help me also.  I used to be able to do what you said and used it often, not just to delete a bunch of e-mails but to bring them all up from the selected sender so I could look for a particular e-mail from that person.  But recently, maybe with the addition of Sierra, it no longer works.  NOW when I select an e-mail from a sender, then click on 'From' it displays every message in my inbox alphabetically starting with 'A'.  It doesnt just select the e-mail I have selected.

Hope someone can help me regain the proper use of 'from'.
