Connections to the server “imap.gmail.com...

It all started with ethernet port registering "self-assigned IP" out of the blue one day on my 2014 MacBook Air. After much time spent with Apple, the issue was resolved, but, not before I had contacted my ISP. I may have made some change to my network some how, or by Apple's troubleshooting, changed the settings in my computer's network settings that altered this. I sold my Air and got a new Pro, wherein I Migrated my Files/Documents and Network settings from the Air to my Pro. Those settings continued problems with ethernet. 5 phone calls and three case numbers later that was resolved, but in the midst, Apple Mail will not take any of my three accounts (iCloud, (2) gmail). Both WiFi and Ethernet do not work. I go to school, using their Network, my email magically works.

I did refer to some documents from Apple discussion boards regarding the Ethernet "self-assigned IP" and subsequently went in and deleted some files from HD>Library>Pref>SystemConfig. The files I was supposed to delete were (1) com.apple.airport.preferences.plist, (2) NetworkInterfaces.plist, and a third one I did not write down. The third one was not where the Discussion said it was (I found out later) and I accidentally deleted a file in SystemConfig that was not on the list and that was com.apple.network.eapolclient.configuration.plist. Upon restarting, this file did not auto populate back into the SysCon file, so I pulled it from the Trash and put it back.

To date, I have still not been able to figure out what it is that could be causing my issue, whether my computer hates how my home network is set up after all the changes to get the Ethernet fixed, or if there is some setting that I accidentally manipulated inside my Routers advanced settings.

Does anyone have any ideas of what to look for in either case?

*side note*

All the Mail discussions point toward manually checking each of my email accounts IMAP settings via the Advanced tab. This tab is not present under any of my accounts, either accessed directly through Mail or via Settings, so I cannot verify these things regarding IMAP. I have also tried deleting the accounts and restarting, then adding them back in (multiple attempts) and this has not fixed a thing.
