only one song played from album or playlist

When starting to listen to a playlist or an album in the Music app (regardless if downloaded or streming), only the first song is played and then continuously repeated, regardless if I started via playback or shuffle button. I have to manually go to the next track through hitting the NEXT button.

This happens for some weeks now in iOS 10 on my iPhone 7+, on an iPhone 7, the issue cannot be replicated. I have checked for any kind of settings that could influence this behavior, but was not successful.
