Lost notes on MacBook Pro

Hello,

I have two e-mail accounts on my Macbook and the e-mail app often plays up and loses connection to both accounts, asking me to re-enter the passwords. It's been doing this for the past 2 years with no problems.

    A week or so ago however, I added a new account to my e-mails which prompted the connection loss issue. After re-entering the passwords I later realised that all of my notes had gone missing. I'm a musician so I'm often jotting down lyrics and pretty much every song I've written for the past 2 years has been in the notes app so it's quite a large loss if I can't recover them. I've tried the method of going directly to the notes files through the library and the files I've recovered only seem to be from the first few months that I had the Macbook. Obviously the songs only get better with time so old songs are no longer really useful to me!  I've also gone into accounts and checked that Notes is selected for all of them. I'd really appreciate any help or advice.
