Ipad is lost and offline, doesnt show up on find my ipad. Does this mean it could have been wiped? I have ios7

It has not been wiped as Activation Lock would prevent it from being wiped (unless you initiated a remote wipe) since you have iOS 7. It is just not connected to the Internet.

What To Do If Your iDevice Is Lost Or Stolen

iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad

If you activated Find My Phone before it was lost or stolen, you can track it only if it is connected to the Internet by Wi-Fi or cellular. What you cannot do is track your device using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your device for you. You cannot recover your loss unless you insure your device for such loss. It is not covered by your warranty.

If your iPhone, iPod, iPod Touch, or iPad is lost or stolen what do you do? There are things you should have done in advance - before you lost it or it was stolen - and some things to do after the fact. Here are some suggestions:

Also do a search, using the serial number, on your local Craig’s List. Some users list the serial number of a stolen iPad to thwart the sale of a stolen device.

It is still offline after 4 days. I did have a passcode lock as well.

Probably the ipad was reset.

If so, they still cannot use it because of iCloud: Activation Lock. Unfortunately, that doesn't help you get it back.  Kappy kindly posted Apple's recommendations on what to do in this situation. I suggest you follow those instructions.

Find My has a fatal weakness, especially for wifi only devices....unless it's near a known hotspot that it connects to automatically it can't get on the Internet for the 'find my' to work.

Like the others have said if you have iOS7 the current holder of the device can't wipe it without entering your Apple ID. Since they don't know that and likely can't get past your passcode it's pretty much a dead device. - dead as in can't be used.

Still Offline. I assume find my iphone would send an email if it came online.

Does apple keep a list of stolen iPads?

Lost Mode

If you can’t find your device, use Lost Mode right away to lock it with a passcode, display a custom message on the screen, and keep track of its location.

Will anyone have access to my information ?

Device is still offline. I had a passcode.

Does the thief have access to my iMessages?

Since the device has been offline, iCloud states lost

mode is pending. If i do a remote erase, I understand it

will not be effective unless device becomes online ?

Is it still possible to track the  device if it is remotely erased?

Unless the thief can successfully enter your passcode in relatively few guesses, it's not likely he will have access to your iMessages. The only other possibility is if you allowed Notifications on the lock screen, but since the device is offline, he would not get those anyway.

Once a device is erased it is not trackable.

I'm elated and mystified. So, the Ipad was returned to me after several months, I never expected to see it again. It appeared to be offline in find my iPhone app from the day it was stolen to the day it was returned to me. I had put it in erase mode after a month. Called apple support, it got erased when I turned it back on, they felt at their end it was in locked mode all that time though, I didn't get notification about locked mode. I actually didn't get any notifications the whole time.

Do you think there is any way the thief could have accessed any information on it? The person that returned it claims they found it abandoned in a place other than from where it disappeared. I don't know who stole it. I guess Apple  does a pretty good job of making it useless for the next person.

That's great news! The point of Activation Lock and the various iCloud services available in Find My iPad if to render the device useless. In this case, it seems the thief gave up and left it for dead. Luckily the person who found it returned it.

I lost my iPhone 5s and now my device is deactivated on find my iPhone.

can anyone help me if I still stand a chance of locating my iPhone.

I think the thief was able to deactivate the find my iPhone.
