10.12.6

Since I installed 10.12.6 both the F3/Mission Control & F11/Volume Down keys / functions no longer work.  I have not changed anything in preferences (for example the Keyboard settings still show Use F1, F2, etc as standard function keys checked.

 

Is this a known issue?  Can I do anything to restore this functionality?

If I understand correctly, you installed Sierra and now there are two keys on the keyboard that are not working. I would recommend you read these articles and use them to help troubleshoot the issue.

  1. Choose the keyboard icon  in your menu bar, then choose Show Keyboard Viewer. You'll see a graphical representation of your keyboard that highlights the corresponding keys you press on your keyboard.

I have worked through everything suggested in the article you shared.  None of it addresses issues specific to the 'function' keys and has not fixed the issues I am still experiencing with the F3 & F11/F12 keys.

 

The issues became apparent in the last update of iOS.  Any other suggestions?

Try starting in Safe Mode and see if the problem still occurs?

Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support

Restart holding the "shift" key.

(Expect it to take longer to start this way because it runs a directory check first.)
