Is there a way to add an existing contact to a group on the iPad or iPhone? This would be a very valuable enhancement.
This feature already exists - iCloud: Create a group and add contacts to it

What if you need privacy and don't have ICloud? How do you just add another contact to an IPad Air? Also how can I use my new IXQUICK @startpage email as privacy is the most important commodity we have. Thx
What exactly is not private about iCloud? Unless you share your iCloud accout login willy nilly with people, it's totally private, encrypted and secured. Anyone with an Apple iOS device can have a free iCloud account and use iCloud to sync contacts.
If you do not wish to use the iOS included contacts app and iCloud, you are free to use any alternative contacts app in the App store, or any other online system you wish (e.g. Google contacts).
As to using another email account, you can set up whatever ones you use in the iOS email app or a third party app. I have google email accounts, yahoo, iCloud, as well as several hosted by my hosting company using my own domains, plus my work email.
This is not the point. Sure, I could:
- open a browser,
- log into iCloud,
- make the changes,
- wait for the sync to occur so that it gets onto my device.
Or do the same thing in Contacts on my MBP, but it shouldn't be necessary. That should be a feature in Contacts on my iOS device, just like it is on my MBP. Life should be easy, Apple is making it harder than need be.
Then tell apple your thoughts - https://www.apple.com/feedback/
None of the user's frequenting these forums has anything to do with iOS development or feature changes. All we can do is help people work with what currently exists.
Yeah, they don't pay much attention to that, either. I've been complaining about it since they dumped the feature, I think after iOS8.
The feature to manage and use contact groups only exists in Mac OS. Support for Groups in Contacts for iOS is only for viewing with the app.

Or in a web browser on any platform by logging in to www.icloud.com and using the contacts app there. With Safari in iOS one just needs to request the desktop web site for iCloud to use the full featured web interface to icloud.
Which is why the suggestion to make it part of the app, so you don't have to access it from the website or from a Mac. I travel. I don't take my Mac with me everywhere, but I do take my phone and pad. The iOS apps should be full featured with regards to the essential apps.
Exactly. If you are away from computer but not your iOS device, it would make since that one would be able to organize their contacts. With regard to "the feature already exists on iCloud"...I just tried accessing iCloud.com from my iPhone: Apple simply gives an iPhone welcome page. So that suggestion is not helpful regarding the nature of the initial thread post.
As i posted, to use iCloud in Safari in iOS, you will need to use the "request desktop site" and then you can login and access the iCloud tools and apps.
I just tried to add a contact to an exiting group on my iPhone. I cannot. I don't understand the iCloud bit. I'm on my iPhone. I have added a person to my Contacts on my iPhone. Now I want to add the new contact to a group that already exists. I have to log into iCloud separately to do this? Why? How is this a feature and not a bug?

Why is something only Apple can answer, not something any of the users here can. The feature you want does not currently exist in iOS contacts. It does exist in the online iCloud tools, accessible from a web browser.
All any of us here on these forums can do is offer a functional solution to people's technical questions or issues. We cannot change iOS or any app in iOS (and no, it's not a "bug" when any developer simply excludes a function or feature from their software).
If you wish changes in iOS, then post them at https://www.apple.com/feedback/
