2017 Imac external enclosure that will boot thi...

Hi,  I need and external enclosure that will attach to my new iMac and boot it.

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017), 4.2 GHz Intel Core i7, 64 GB 2400 MHz DDR4, Radeon Pro 580 8192 MB

Itunes 12.7;  Also tried with 2013 Mac book pro; updated to High Sierra and iTunes 12.7.  MBP used to work; under Sierra.

I currently have a 4bay enclosure,  Thunderbolt 2--attached using Apple Thunderbolt adapter.  I can clone my SSD without problems; But it will not boot under any circumstances.  Have tried setting it as startup disk in System Preferences;  have tried holding down option key,  have reset pram, and SMC.  Took adapters and cables to the Apple Store to to verify they working correctly.

Have talked with Apple Care Support Several times; no joy from them.

I have found nothing that works.

Please forgive if I have not provided enough information.

Any and all suggestions and ideas greatly appreciated.  Thanks again to a Great Apple Community
