Going around in circles

My son just asked me to approve an app purchase for him on his iPad.  I entered my iCloud credentials and was prompted to approve the purchase on my iPhone.  I approved it and was prompted again on the iPad for my iCloud credentials.  Once again, I was prompted to approve on my iPhone.  I did, and was prompted for my iCloud credentials again.  This is ridiculous.
