iPad Pro 10.5" or MacBook Air for school/colleg...

Hi, I am thinking of buying either an iPad Pro 10.5" or a MacBook air to use at least 3-4 years through school and hopefully university. Will an iPad Pro (with ios11) work for me and is it a suitable replacement for a laptop that would be used for study? Or should I go with a MacBook air? Does anyone have any experience with using an iPad Pro for school/college and university?

I would say it depends a lot on what your course is? For me if you're going to be writing long essays there's not substitute for a laptop over a tablet. However if there are more interactive apps on the iPad that you think you might use, the maybe the iPad is for you.
