Spyware on MacbookAir

I have been suspicious of remote access on my macbookair since Day one. Last week, in a bind, I hooked up my iPhone 7 to use as a hotspot as wifi wasn't working in MacBook. It was for about 10 minutes. The next day my iPhone was jail broken. One week later I signed into my my monero wallet to see that my monero was all withdrawn on the same day as the iPhone incident.  They only way to sign is with a 12 word phrase that I don't store anywhere but on a piece of paper. I feel it has to be keylogging or unauthorized remote monitoring (all sharing is disabled through settings and firewall) I have reinstalled OS several times. How do I find spyware, if there is any and how do I remove it?

Unless someone is physically sitting at your mac and knows your administrative password there is no Keylogger on your mac, and unless your phone was already willingly jailbroken there is no way to remote jailbreak a iOS device.

In the event you are using 3rd party utilities to "protect your mac" then the assumption these products are doing as they are advertised may be incorrect. For futher analysis you may post an Etrecheck report. The link is ********

If you are concerned your devices are comprimised contact Apple to have the system evaluated by an Apple Genius.

1-800-MY-APPLE or apple.com/contact for a list of international phone numbers.

You may also wish to contact "Monero" to see the activity on your account was related to the "incident" with your iOS device.

If you use your same log/pass combo with another service (e.g. Yahoo, Twitter, Facebook, etc.) and that service is "hacked" then the perpetrators have to only try typing this same combo in any other service to get into your other accounts.

Thanks for the reply,  I will follow up on some suggestions,  problem with apple is just as you telll me it's impossible and only test functionability-which outside my apartment is fine. Inside it's fine but very slow.  Could someone get in through my router?

Your router is not your computer. I can't tell you that for sure your router is compensated but It's far easier to hack a router than it is a Mac computer. there is so much more code available to download and far more information already on the web to do so.

If you have concerns for your router update it to it's latest firmware and wipe the current settings then reconfigure and enable the firewall on the router as per the manufacturers directions to do so.

Your Mac OS X firewall is application specific, not port specific; you can set an application to use or not use a connection but not specify a port.

This is an older article but may still be informative.
