Document disappears when I activate apple pencil

Hi,

I just purchased the IPad Pro along with Apple Pen. I am using iOS 10.3.3. I tried to write a note on a recipe I had saved in Notes, but each time I hit the squiggly icon the recipe disappeared. I was able to write the note and the recipe reappeared when I clicked done but the note was not placed where I wanted it. Is there a way I can keep the recipe visible as I write on it?

When you tap on the squiggly icon, you opening a new (oversized) window just for drawing. When you finish annotating, tap on the Done button. This will reduce the size of that window to just the area of your annotation.

Apple announced that this functionality will be much improved with iOS 11 release.
