I am currently running iOS 9 on my iPad.  I want to update to iOS 11 but when I check updates in settings, it shows iOS 9 is "up to date".  What's up?

What model is your iPad? Only iPad 5th generation plus and Mini 2+ can be updated(along with various iPhone models and the ipod 6th gen). If you’re maxed out at 9.3.5 then you likely have an iPad 2 which cannot be updated to iOS11.

iOS11 is an all 64 bit update, and any older devices that are 32 bit cannot run the software
