This accessory is not supported by this device

This message keeps popping up. It's not that common, but it is starting to get annoying. How do I get rid of it?

Hello,

If an alert says that your accessory isn't supported or certified

These alerts can appear for a few reasons: Your iOS device might have a dirty or damaged charging port, your charging accessory is defective, damaged, or non Apple-certified, or your USB charger isn't designed to charge devices.

  1. Remove any debris from the charging port on the bottom of your device.
  2. Restart your iOS device.
  3. Try a different USB cable or charger.
  4. Make sure that you have the latest version of iOS.
  5. Contact Apple Support to set up service.

Hi. Is it being caused by your Smart Keyboard? If so, take a look at this thread, link: iPad Pro Keyboard "This accessory is not supported by this device". You may want to take it to an Apple store for checking.

I have this problem as well.  They have sent me 4 phones now with the same error when I plug in the accessory adapter and also bought 2 other types of compatible adapters.

Last week I even bought Beats and still get the same error message.  I'm very disappointed and annoyed.

I have tried every trick provided by Verizon and google support.

Hi LaQuitsha. Is your iOS up to date?

What model iPhone is it?

Are the adapters made by Apple? Can you identify them?

I went to the Apple store today and replaced the adapter and now problem solved.  My adapter was not an apple adapter and the generic version will not work.  My puppy chewed my original adapter.

Port is clean, IOS is up to date and only using certified Apple products that came with this iPad. Didn't ever see this until the last update (as I recall). Best part s that it pops up when nothing is connected. I even turned off Bluetooth.
