Line width adjustment
How do you adjust the width of the line in pen mode? I find the pen to be far too thin.
Hi niralii,
Are you asking about the pen mode in the Notes application on your iPad Pro? If so, the weight or thickness of the line is determined by how hard you press. See the information below.
Apple Pencil - Draw lines of any weight. Just apply pressure.
Use Apple Pencil with iPad Pro
Take care,
I find that I need to push down uncomfortably hard and the line is still too thin. It hurts my hand, and the it seems to be close to damaging the iPad Pro's (9 inch) screen.
It has been this way on both IOS 9 and 10, in the native Notes app.
Any other advice?

Try a different note taking app that allows more adjustment.
Try other note apps, in the iOS App Store, that are far more flexible and compartible with the Apple Pencil and iPad Pro.
Good Luck!
Good advice to try another app. Personally, I'm finding OneNote to be the better option, & it works beyond the Apple ecosystem.
I can't stand OneNote myself but I'm glad you found an app that meets your needs.
Best of luck.
I like Noteshelf. Great flexibility and ease of use.
In the standard apple apps like NOTES you can not.
The harder you push the larger the line gets but that's all.
There are many other 3rd party apps where this feature is standard but obviously this is less ideal.
Try GoodNotes 4, if you haven't already.
It allows you to adjust pen width, amongst other things.
I still use OneNote for some things, but for handwritten notes, I now stick with GoodNotes -- mostly because you can search your handwritten notes for words, which makes it much easier to find the notes you need days/weeks after a meeting.

Why is a third party app less than ideal? Apple makes a few basic app and then encourages developers to make all sorts of other apps. This allows for lots of different options. There's no way Apple could make a note taking app that would please everyone. Wisely, they don't try.
Cool but no one is arguing that.
Not having the function where you need it and having to look elsewhere is less ideal than having the funtion.
I agree with a lot of what you are saying otherwise.
Well, if Notes doesn't have the features you want and expect to need, better to find an app that does before you need them again.
Best of luck.
There are other nice apps out there (e.g. GoodNotes), but the nice thing about iOS 11 is that the handwriting is searchable inside the app. I know Evernote and other apps have the same thing, but they tend to be more clunky. But at the same time, the line width is too stringy for my tastes. Probably a first-world issue...
