Will Quicken 2007 run under Yosemite on my earl...

I am considering upgrading my early 2008 iMac to Yosemite. (I like it on my Macbook Pro) I am also using Quicken Essentials on my MacBook Pro, but still prefer Quicken 2007 on my iMac.

So I have 3 questions regarding Quicken 2015.

a) will it import my Quicken 2007 data?

b) will it run in Yosemite on my iMac?

c) Does Quicken 2015 allow for reports filtered by payees?

if it rely on powerpc emulation then you can't

Bob,

You really should be asking Intuit (the developers of the app) that question. Rudegear is correct so this really depends on the version of Quicken 2007 you have. Intuit had a PPC emulation version and then switched gears and came out with a native Intel version so their track record can be confusing. IMHO you should either stay with Essentials, go to their replacement for Essentials or even better move to another app altogether such as iBank where the developers have shown their dedication to the OS X platform.

Thanks for the help. Yes, I realize it is an Intuit thing, but getting hold of them is not easy.

Have tried iBank and as much as they are willing to support the Mac community, I didn't think their program was as easy to use as Quicken. Having said that, Quicken Essentials is not nearly as good as the older version Quicken 2007.

Will try Intuit again.

Don't bother. Intuit offered Q '07 for Mac Lion four years ago for $15, but dropped it when they release Q '15 which works in all OSs, Lion through Yosemite, but lacks many features of Q '07. I know since I beta-tested Q '15 and its a lot like Essentials, much fluff but many shortcomings. If progress continues on the same timeline, you might not see a viable Quicken for another three or four years.

I have been chatting with Intuit people the past couple of days. I did download Q2015 and after about 5 hours asked for a refund. It is not as good as Essentials and the interface isn't even in color - a drab black and white. However, during the course of that chat I was offered the Q2007 for Lion download for $15 and now have it running under Yosemite. So it is still available, but only through a chat agent apparently.

Thanks for the information. That's something that I can pass along to others when they can't find the Q'07 for Lion version. I never had Essentials and was going on what other testers were stating during the test period.

You mean that it mimics the nonsense known as Yosemite. I couldn't agree more.

A further update. I have been using Q2007 on my MacBook Pro now for a couple of days and also have one file still using Q Essentials. Both appear to be operating just fine under Yosemite.

However, just to repeat, I was given the opportunity to to download Q2007(Lion) by the chat agent. This happened after I had downloaded Q2015 and was so unhappy after just a few hours that I had asked for a refund for Q2015. when I told him that I had been using Q2007 for some years, but was unable to use it on my new MacBook Pro which shipped with Mountain Lion and I had recently upgraded to Yosemite, he offered the Q2007(Lion) download for $15.

Obviously, Intuit would prefer to sell Q2015 for $74.99 instead of letting customers know that Q2007(Lion) is still available, but I wasn't able to see that anywhere on their website.

Regardless, both 2007 and Essentials are operating smoothly under Yosemite at this time. Hopefully, that continues.

baltwo:

To obtain a copy of Quicken 2007 from Intuit for $15, use the chat feature for Quicken for Mac: Quicken 2007 for Lion: Shopping and Buying: Buying Quicken on this page:

If that'll get one the Quicken '07 Lion for Mac, then that's good to know.

I tried the links for the 2007 Quicken for Mac upgrade Lion for $15 and they unfortunately didn't work.

I upgraded my OS to Yosemite but have a 2007 Quicken loaded.  Would this Lion upgrade work on my 2008 Macbook?  I'd love to only spend $15!! thx

I can try calling them again and ask for the Lion upgrade. They told me that I'd need to purchase the new version :\

Intuit seems to be changing their links; try this:

And fill in the following information under Choose Your Product and request CHAT:

Thank you Michael- it worked!

I feel really silly- I have Quickbooks 2007 not Quicken but ordered it anyways on the chat format for $14.99 (took about an hour).  I'm glad I did as Quicken seems simpler.

Hopefully I won't be too intimidated by Quicken - just want to do simple budgeting, reports for my personal finances.

Here's a contact number for any questions:  888-311-7276

Good luck!

i was able to download Q07 over a year ago and am now running it on my early 08 iMac running El Capitan.

Previously used Q Essentials on my MacBook Pro and was most grateful that Intuit upgraded 07 to run under latest OS's since it is much easier version to use than Essentials, for my needs anyway
