Checking 32

Beginning in January, 2018, the new Mac OS, High Sierra will not run 32-bit applications. I attempted to determine what applications I have that are 32-bit by going to About this Mac > System Report > Software > Applications, but after a few minutes, the following message appeared in the window "The plug-in did not respond quickly enough while gathering this information."

Does anyone know of a different way of determining applications I have that are 32-bit?   (I have a Late-2013, 27-inch Mac running Sierra (10.12.5).

I found another way of checking which applications are 32-bit. Go to the Activity Monitor, click on the Disk tab and look at the Kind column.

True, but this only shows you the ones that are running at the moment.

My suggestion is simply to try the original method again.

I was having this problem by first going to "About This Mac" and then going to System Report… and then to applications, and I ran into the same issue: "The plug-in did not respond quickly enough while gathering this information."

I then tried it again by opening the "System Information" application directly and not going through the "About This Mac," and it finally worked. Don't know if this will work for you, but you could give it a try.
