iCloud Drive and Windows 10 working for anyone?
I can't get Photos or iCloud Drive to pull anything down from iCloud onto my Windows 10 PC. I have roughly 130 GB of documents syncing just fine with my MacBook running 10.15.5.
My Windows 10 PC is running iCloud 6.2.1. When iCloud Drive is enabled the CPU runs like crazy, for days, but no files/folders appear in the iCloud folder.
Is this working for anyone?
Update: after 24 hours of running, it's pulled down 1/2 GB of data. The folders are there, but only a fraction of the actual files within Documents. Should finish sync'ing by 2020, I would guess.
I really like the iCloud integration with Apple products, but the Windows iCloud Drive performance is a non-starter.
I set up iCloud for PC, and was syncing between a PC and Mac. After everything was synced, files took 12 hours to appear elsewhere, when created on the PC. So, unusable.
I'm not sure when it started, but as of today, files are syncing within seconds, both from the PC and the Mac. Absolutely perfect.
Which is a relief, because it's looking like I'll be able to sync up my life through iCloud Drive after all.
Good luck in your experience - maybe you'll have a magic resolution like I did.
Not so on my end. Same behavior on the Windows 10 PC. It's been running for 48 hours and only about 200 MB have come down from iCloud. The settings panel says it's downloading 13,556 items, but I haven't seen any change in the size of the Documents folder under iCloud Drive change in the last 6 hours.
iCloud on Windows 10 just isn't working... at all. Heading back to Dropbox and canceling my iCloud storage upgrade.
You might want to benchmark Dropbox as well, it might be some piece of Windows software causing the iCloud issue (such as a FireWall, a badly written application, or malware)
Interesting idea. But, no, I tried that already and Dropbox syncs instantly.
The problem is iCloud for Windows. I suspect that very few people are using the Windows version with any significant number of files and, hence, no one at Apple realizes (or cares) that this is an issue.
So, after another 24 hours, iCloud Drive for Windows has pulled down an amazing... additional... 75MB (that's MEGA w/ an 'M'). Pathetic.
Uninstalled from my PC. Too bad, because it would have been a nice solution, as I am mostly on my Mac.
I'm having the same experience on a brand new Windows laptop with plenty of horsepower. Seems the iCloud Drive for Windows app is great at using my processor (pegged at about 30% and spinning up my laptop fans like a tornado), but there's no movement at all on the network activity and no syncing taking place. What a disappointment. Apple, please don't offer an app that doesn't work. It only makes people frustrated and prone to walk away.
I right clicked on the iCloud app icon on my Windows 10, and selected "run as administrator". iCloud settings loaded and the entire file list was populated.
