Can you disable phone number detection

I just updated my iPad, and now the phone number detection option that pops up in mobile safari to ask you if you want to call, FaceTime,etc does not include the cancel option like previous versions. The problem is, the sites I use frequently use a parcel ID number that gets recognized by my iPad as a phone number. Previously I could just click cancel in the pop up and the link would take me to the appropriate page. Is there a way to disable this feature on my iPad, I don't believe that the site owner would modify HTML to include a "not a phone number" meta tag.

Use Chrome, In my case it worked out.
