iTunes unable to sync some albums

Hi everyone,

itunes on late 2012 13" retina MacBook Pro macOS Sierra 10.12.6 has started to return errors when syncing media to iPhone 6S. I've around 6k tracks which go across just fine, but 93 of them give an error, claiming iTunes can't find the file. I can right-click the track, choose ''get info' (at which point I see another error) and am offered a chance to locate the file manually. The resulting Finder window puts me in the right folder, and I just select the track that's there, after which the 'get info' window appears.

Here's the odd thing: if I decline the opportunity to manually locate, the file path shown in 'get info' is the same as it is after I accept the chance to manually locate. In other words I'm not giving iTunes any additional information, it already knows where the track is and has permissions to access it. But for some reason I have to go through this PITA step for 90+ files.

If anyone has any ideas that can help me out I'd be very grateful.

Thanks,

Mark.
