Banner/alert notification issues (e.g. Calendar...

I've had general banner/alert notification issues for a while. All seem to be related to core Apple apps like Calendar, iTunes, etc.

Banners from these apps will sometimes act like alerts that need to be dismissed. Sometimes multiple notifications appear to get entangled, like one banner is on top of another (when this happens, there's a semi-transparent horizontal line on the bottom of the frontmost banner).

Sometimes banners & alerts simply don't show at all. iTunes song change notifications don't work. There was no alert for a test Calendar event I just made for later in the day (it's in the Notification Center, but the banner didn't show).

The most recent (& strangest) was a Calendar banner notification for 2 events that opened Script Editor.

Any ideas?
