Chrome and Firefox but not Safari

Recently I have been experiencing some issues when using a browser other than Safari. 

Day 1: The other day I checked Chrome for any updates, it had been running just fine without any issues, but there was an update that I installed.  Shortly after the update, my system MacBook Pro (2011) display started to act weird, and then crashed.  I rebooted, allowed programs that were opened to remain open, and when I opened Chrome again... display goes all wonky and Crash!  I sent the reports to Apple each time.  I figured it had to do with the update, so I used Safari for the rest of the day without any issues.

Day 2:  Remove and Reinstall Chrome, with the latest download with the same results as above, but Safari still working fine.  I install FireFox, it opens, but shortly after... display goes all wonky and Crash!  I do some research on possible problems, I don't have Flash installed, but I do have Java installed.  I remove Java, download and install Chrome again, it runs for a minute, and then display goes all wonky and crash again.  After this crash the system will not boot into the OS.  I try safe boot with no luck, I then reset PRAM, and then check the disk for issues.  No issues with the disk, restart the MacBook Pro, and this time I am able to log into he system.

At this point I remove Chrome and FireFox, and hopefully await a fix...  Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
