Cant Update OS Sierra, App store OR Combo

I've been unable to make ANY OS Sierra updates since I first upgraded back at 10.12.3! I get the same verification failed error with both app store update AND combo file update -- makes no difference. it's not a corrupt file, as I've downloaded it 10+ times from different sources, and I also download 5+ GB files routinely without problems. I have no idea how to fix this. I've followed every "workaround" I can find, and I still can't update.

Ran first aid on disk

attempted via safe and recovery mode

downloaded the combo file via hard-wire on another machine and copied to usb

cleaned out all memory cashes and other temporary files

+ about 5 more steps i was advised to try -- same result everytime "Update failed. could not be verified"

I'm using a mid 2015 MBP

2.8 GHz Intel Core i7

16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

Mac OS Sierra 10.12.3

if that helps..

I think a reinstall of macOS might be in order: How to reinstall macOS - Apple Support

Make a backup of your disk first.

Been there. Done that too. I did a fresh install about 2 months ago via a time machine backup. Didn’t change anything in regards to this problem.

I’ll give the CMD + Option + R one a shot though. Haven’t tried that one from the boot menu yet

Try downloading the combo update in the Safe Mode or another admin account.

Safe Mode - About El Capitan    also Sierra

Safe Mode Startup – El Capitan.          also Sierra

Mavericks Download can’t be verified

Maybe read my full comment first. I attempted all that

Please read lauren_wise's contribution to this Discussion: Re: Mac can't verify 10.12.6 update

I hope that is not the case for you.

I don’t believe ram memory is my issue as I routinely render out after effects and premier videos. I don’t see any loss of performance in those apps. But I’ll continue to look into all possibilities before going to Apple.

It doesn't make a lot of sense to me either, but you already appear to have accomplished all reasonable steps.

The only workaround I can suggest would be to completely erase that Mac and install Sierra using macOS Internet Recovery, using the appropriate key chord as explained here: How to reinstall macOS - Apple Support. That key chord would be r as it explains, but please pay attention to the footnote that accompanies it:

"If you haven't already installed macOS Sierra 10.12.4 or later, ..."

... and you appear to be stuck at 10.12.3. You might need to reinstall macOS and attempt the update again.

Then, after macOS is installed, migrate your information from the Time Machine backup when that option appears. Obviously you will want to create that Time Machine backup immediately prior to erasing the Mac.

I may just have to try that next. I’ll update once I know more. Thanks
