Macbook Air Early 2015 Logic Board Failure

My MacBook Air, which is less than a year and half old, had a logic board failure out of nowhere.

The problem started with Macbook not detecting the battery. It was not powering on. I connected it to AC power adapter and it powered on normally. The battery sign had a cross [x] sign over it.

I took it to Authorised apple service centre. After running diagnostics, they told me over phone that the motherboard needs to be replaced and it will cost 38,500 INR ($565). Its just been 3-4 months out of warranty. When I asked them about the cause of the problem, they told me that they couldn't identify.

I found many similar posts on the discussion board, where users have reported the same issue.

I don't know if I can convince myself to buy an apple product. Really disappointed.

going forward I suggest you or anyone else consider getting Apple Care when you invest in an Apple device. You have one year to decide to do for Apple computers. While most computers predisposition to fail do so in the first year I have had dozens I support do so shortly after the standard warranty and the Apple Care has saved the companies I work with a substantial sum in those instances. Additionally if you are disappointed with Apples product line and wish to look at other brands and see what they offer compared to Apples price point you are encouraged to do so.

Talked to apple support. They told me if its a design issue, then apple will issue a free replacement for the affected models, but that will take over a year

For me I got issues within 6 months after purchase ( INR 70,000 ) of my Mac Book Air. I gave it to replacement to Authorized Apple repair center in Gopalan Mall Bengaluru. Device was with them for about 3 months as they diagnose-repair cycle continued. They had replaced Logic board. Now I got back device. After next 3 months my warranty expired. Then it worked well for next 12 months.

And now it depends on MAC air shim whether it wants to start or not. Sometimes it just shuts down all of sudden. I went to a different authorized service center this time. They suggested its logic board failure i.e. within 1 year and 3 months after its replacement was done last time and the repair cost now in Sept 2017 is ( approx INR 45,000) while new Mac air with twice the RAM, intel core 5 processor costs INR 60000.

Effectively I ended up paying INR 70000 for 21 month usage. i.e. INR 3500 per month. Is it worth ?

So much downtime for repair and lack of reliability of the APPLE product left bad taste in the mouth.
