iOS 11, 32

I'm currently holding back from putting iOS 11 on my iPad Pro 12.9 (1st Gen) an iPhone 7, because I have a number of apps I use regularly, which are about to be unsupported.

I was about to purchase a replacement for one of the most important ones, when WOW, a 64-bit update finally turned up. I could so easily have wasted my money purchasing a duplicate program.

OK, so it's only (usually) a few bucks at a time, but with about 15 apps that need replacing, it soon adds up. And just like the app I mentioned a moment ago, they still might come out with a 64-bit version.

Question: How long should one wait for a potential 64-bit update to a much-loved program, rather than just chuck it in and find a new one to replace it?

Contact the vendors to see if they have any intent in updating their apps

to 64 bit,  assuming they all still exist
