Is there a change with siri and smart covers in...

The "Hey Siri" feature works fine most of the time on my 2017 model iPad Pro - however, now it doesn’t work when the Smart Cover is in the closed position ever since I installed iOS 11 - I was able to use ‘Hey Siri” with the cover in the closed position prior to the update - is there a new setting I’m missing or is this feature no longer available?
