Will a Qwerty Keyboard cover make my Azerty key...

A Belgian friend is giving me her old Macbook Air, but I'm wondering if I change the setting on the Mac to Qwerty, will the keys work exactly as a qwerty keyboard?

e.g. typing A brings out Q, typing M brings out ;

If I get a Qwerty Keyboard protector so I don't notice the difference in appearance, will this help?

A Qwerty keyboard cover will not change the keyboard mapping.

What if I change the mapping through the system settings (so I no longer require the onscreen keyboard)

It will work but some key are not the same in English and Belgium it's weird sometimes. But if you get a very soft silicon cover it's fine. At least I think it is, they're 5$ on amazon honestly..
