59 HZ at 2560 X 1440 but only 30 HZ at 1920 X 1...

Anyone experiencing similar issues? What doesn't make sense to me is that you can get the 60 HZ at a higher resolution but not the lower resolution. Is is the Macbook or the monitor? I'm using a thunderbolt to display port cable, haven't tried an HDMI cable yet.

I'm thinking maybe lower resolutions are too far from 4K for the monitor to do all that upscaling at 60HZ? Should the 2560 look a bit grainy to me? It does. Apple support didn't have an answer for this.

I bought this thing for pure clarity and crispness. I'm probably not even going to use the higher resolutions (everything is too small and unsharp). The 30HZ is barely noticeable to me but I'm just trying to figure this out for future buying purposes.
