Premature Dimming on my Apple desktop a big pro...

How do I fix it? Premature dimming  during all operation severely handicapped function. This problem occurred after the last automatic update. 21" desk top yosemite

Display sleep? Try System Preferences/Energy Saver and set Display sleep/Turn display off after: to a later time. If that isn't what you are seeing, more information would help.
