USB hubs have become unreliable after 10.12.6 u...

I updated to: 10.12.6 and now devices connected to USB hubs will intermittently freeze, flash on/off, and become completely unresponsive. I tested 3 different powered USB hubs and got the same behavior on all 3. Each device works fine when plugged directly into the USB ports on my MacBook. I talked with apple support 3 times this past week and they had me do: smc reset, nvram reset, reinstall entire Mac OS 10.12.6. None of those worked. Before I updated to 10.12.6 everything connected and stayed connected just fine... no issues. Now literally right after updating to 10.12.6 all the USB dropouts, reconnects, etc started happening. I have read many other posts/threads that people are having similar USB issues after updating to 10.12.6. Is there something else I can do to fix this issue?
